Sun Dru-thi’ s genesis dates back to a couple of summers ago when Alex Santi, an outstanding guitarist with an hyper active mind, decided he had shed way too many buckets of sweat in countless band without finding that je ne sais quoi  he has been long searching for. That missing element coincidentally materialized with some tentative experimentations in the digital realm of softsynths and virtual drum machines. Naturally inclined to anything with an edge, Alex soon found deep fulfillment in the stomping sound of the 909 hard kick and in the endless sample bending possibilities of his now favorite tool, FruityLoops. Add to the mix his lust for fat distorted guitars and his roots as a metal kid and there you go, it’s loose nitroglycerine.

A natural born guitarist, he previously took on a lead singer part in Endorphin (a shot lived but remarkable band he formed with a bunch of lost souls from neighboring towns), a role he was now determined to further develop and exploit for his new artistic direction.

Hardened by years of band militancy, Alex was surely not ready to confine his new identity to his basement studio for much longer and finding adequate minds to support his planned live acts became a priority. It didn't take long before Alex’s vision was fully dug by drummer J-am and bassist L, two blokes certainly capable of delivering the power blast that a project like this requires.

Perhaps there’s nothing remotely unusual in the onset of Sun Dru-thi but the result of months of obsessive layering of track after track of electro-metal mayhem is this remarkable peace of work that Bleached Records is now proud to represent.

reviews

a dusk to dawn concept album, it immediately captured our imagination with its lucid insanity and the emotional charge of this openly auto biographical attempt to make sense of an otherwise hazy reality. amsterdam sex parlors and open air techno raves, golden cages and long black snakes, with feverish lust, drug-filled euphoria and desperation Sun Dru-thi gives in to the inevitable in a long, long night to remember. remarkable is the song "il giardino dei giochi di Hassan" a musical adaptation in italian of William Burroughs' sickest passage in his Naked Lunch: Hassan's rumpus room. Sun Dru-thi's vocals at times recall a Peter Murphy locked up in a basement with a FruityLoops freak and a bunch of stoners. terrific. definitely not for the faint-hearted - we believe this is an extraordinary piece of work and we're proud of this release.
